Sander is known for bold portraits and visually challenging stories.
His photojournalistic eye and curiosity make his work unique. His quick sense and down-to-earth outlook allow him to connect instantly with his subjects and create dramatic images. His professional experience makes him a reliable partner in assigned photography.
In his spare time Sander travels and does street photography, produces graphic art (making etches and lithography), organizes photography workshops and does many many other surprising stuff.

Born Dutch he's addicted to Dutch 'drop' (black sweets), sailing, biking, skating, cheese in all it's forms and life in general. He is pragmatic, quite direct, restless and practical . Traveling and living in Brussels learned him to be relaxed and less 'Dutch' , e.g. more European.
-Inspired by his father -an insect-photographing anthropologist- and his mother -a medical analist with a darkroom- Sander started photographing at 10.
After dropping out of university, doing army-time and having worked in the pro photo-gear business too long, Sander finally found the courage to follow his heart and started studying photography at the Royal Academy of arts at The Hague. He worked in several famous photo studios before starting as a freelance photographer in 2002.
